Action on Access 2007

The issue

14 years ago the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) became law, but disabled people are still being discriminated against in lots of different ways:

  • Many buildings and services are still not physically accessible
  • Access to information for people with sensory impairments is lacking
  • People are regularly treated badly just because they are disabled

At a NCODP members' group meeting in May 2007 (see photos above) it was decided to highlight the continuing discrimination against disabled people by holding a week of Action on Access across Norfolk

What happened

A large number of our member groups joined the campaign for equal access and action was taken across the county on local issues.

Working in support of our member groups, we helped to co-ordinate events in the county and produced a full range of promotional support, helped with the production of leaflets and posters, press releases and other publicity material.

The result

It was decided to highlight the continuing discrimination endured by disabled people in Norfolk by holding a week of Action on Access throughout the county
