Joint Commissioning Strategy

Over the last two years the NCODP has been working closely with NHS Norfolk, NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney and Norfolk County Council - Adult Social Services in leading the development of the joint Commissioning Strategy for people with physical and sensory impairments 2008 - 2013.

Following extensive consultation (23rd June – 12th September 2008), workshops and social action research, the Joint Commissioning Board for People with Physical and Sensory Impairments has both finalised its strategy and devised a detailed action plan for its implementation.

Putting People First

In Putting People First, the government’s landmark protocol on personalisation, the goal was ‘... to be the first public service reform programme which is co-produced, co-developed, co-evaluated and recognises that real change will only be achieved through the participation of users and carers at every stage.’

The government further set out the benfits for local authorities who participate in coproduction with user-led groups from the very beginning, rather then consulting with them after a project/research has been completed.
