This April 25th thousands of people will line up for the 2010 Virgin London Marathon.
Amongst those runners this year will see Gill Petts-Hannant, NCODP's Payroll Manager, taken part for the first time.
Like many people who take part in the London Marathon, Gill will be raising money for a charity. For Gill, this is the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institute is the national service that provides 24-hour lifeboats and seasonal lifeguards dedicated to saving lives at sea in the UK, all year round, everyone of them a volunteer
Gill admits she was never one for exercise as a child, in fact she would fake her mother's signature to get out of PE at school.
However her wish to make a difference for the many brave people who make up the UK's National Lifeboat service, has meant that she has not just taken to a gym for simple exercise, but has taking part in numerous races, half and part marathons, and will at the end of April see her face her greatest test, running the 26 miles that is the London Marathon.
To date Gill has raised nearly £3000 and is hoping to raise even more in the coming last few weeks of her training leading up to the big day.
As part of her preparation for the London Marathon, Gill will be posting a diary on the NCODP news website as well as our many social networking profiles across the web.
