Norfolk Local Involvement Network website relaunch invites public to contribute to health issues

Monday 22nd February sees the launch of a re-vamped website designed to encourage the people of Norfolk to contribute to influencing health and social care services in the county.

Norfolk Local Involvement Network (LINk) has proved to be highly effective in the short time it has existed, bringing together local people, organisations and groups that want to help shape local health and social care provision.

LINk is a completely independent organisation whose members are all volunteers, aged eighteen and over. Members are encouraged to participate, either by simply contributing their concerns or thoughts about health and social care services in Norfolk or, actively, by joining one of LINk’s working groups.

“Anyone can be a member of LINk – individuals and organisations are welcome – but it’s much more than a talking shop. We have real powers to make change happen to improve health and social care services and we want to hear the public’s views.” explained LINk communications lead Maggie Green.

Achievements include the development of a consultant-led service for Myalgic Encephalopathy / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in Norfolk, positive discussions with the county’s three acute hospitals and adult social services on how discharge from hospitals can be improved, and a significant impact on the provision of day services for people with mental health issues.

“We need the people of Norfolk to share with us their experiences and thoughts on the health services they and their families receive, so that we can work with the organisations that buy and provide these services to help shape and improve provision in the future. So if you see or think of something that should be improved, share it with Norfolk LINk and together we can change it!” said LINk chairman Patrick Thompson.

If you’d like to join Norfolk LINk, find out more about their work and achievements, or simply voice an opinion, visit LINk’s new website at www.norfolklink.org.uk or telephone 01603 883860.
