A new report from the Cabinet Office intitled, "Working together for older people in rural areas" has used First Focus of Fakenham as an example of good 'Citizen Empowerment'.
The report demonstrated a number of findings including:
- ageing is changing the population profile of England and rural areas are ageing faster than urban areas
- older people in rural areas who are vulnerable or at risk of social exclusion experience rates of disadvantage similar to their urban counterparts
- there are unique challenges for older people in accessing transport and social activities as well as health and social care
- older people in rural areas are more likely to report living in poor housing
